Details
Isla Colón has a simple, locally run minibus system used by both residents and visitors. Both main routes depart from the main square in Bocas Town, where the colectivos usually wait at the corner (see location on maps). If you’re unsure which one to take, just ask the drivers there — they’ll guide you. Service runs during the day only.
Although the square is the main starting point, you can get on or off anywhere along the route. Simply wave the bus down from the roadside.
There are two routes relevant for visitors:
This colectivo runs continuously between Bocas Town and the far end of Bluff Beach (Bam Bam Beach).
The fare is about 3.50 USD per person for the full distance to the end of Bluff Beach. Shorter sections cost less. You can hop on or off anywhere along the road.
This route follows the same road as the Bluff line until a Y-junction, where the two directions split. The Drago route runs more frequently than the Bluff line, usually resulting in shorter waiting times.
There are two possible final stops:
From Bocas del Drago, visitors can walk to Playa Estrella (Starfish Beach) or continue by short boat transfer.
There is no fixed timetable for either route. Simply wave the bus down along the roadside and pay the driver in cash.
