Privacy Policy

1. General Information and Controller

This Privacy Policy informs you about the nature, scope, and purpose of the processing of personal data by: KUNO Technologies GmbH, Zollergasse 37/9, 1070 Vienna, Email: contact@kunoguide.com]

(hereinafter referred to as "we" or "Provider").

We operate a digital guest guide platform (the "App") and are committed to protecting the privacy of our Users (Hosts) and their Guests.

2. Data Processing for Hosts (Users)

When you register an account and use our services as a Host, we process the following data:

-      Account Data: Name, email address, password, and company details.

-      Billing Data: Payment information, billing address, and subscription history.

-      Usage Data: Log data (IP address, time of access, device information) and data regarding the use of the App's features.

-      Content Data: Any personal data you include in your guides (e.g., contact details, specific instructions).

3. Data Processing for Guests

When you access a digital guide provided through the KUNO platform, we process the following data:

-      Technical Log Data: To ensure the security and functionality of the App, we collect the IP address, date/time of access, browser type, and operating system.

-      Usage Stats: We may collect anonymous or pseudonymized data about which sections of the guide are visited (e.g., "Restaurant Recommendations") to help the Host improve their guide.

Analytics and Referral Tracking:

If the user consents via the cookie banner, we collect pseudonymized analytics data such as:

  • page visits
  • viewed recommendations
  • viewed events
  • interaction with guide elements
  • referral sources (e.g. QR codes, social media links)

This data is used to improve the guide experience and understand how visitors use the platform.

Session Recordings:

If the user consents via the cookie banner, we may use session recording tools provided by Base44 to better understand how users interact with the App and to improve usability, performance, and user experience.

Session recordings may include clicks, scrolling behavior, navigation patterns, viewed pages, and interactions with interface elements. We do not intentionally collect sensitive information such as passwords, payment details, or private messages through these recordings.

The recordings are used exclusively for analytical and service improvement purposes and are processed in a pseudonymized manner where technically feasible.

If the user consents via the cookie banner, a pseudonymous persistent visitor ID is generated and stored in the browser's localStorage for up to 12 months. This ID allows us to distinguish first-time visitors from returning visitors across sessions. The ID is randomly generated, contains no personal data, and cannot be linked to any individual. It is deleted automatically when the user clears their browser data or withdraws consent via Cookie Settings.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Performance of a Contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): For the provision of our services to the Hosts.

Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): For technical security, optimization of the App, and marketing (in a B2B context).

Legal Obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR): For tax and accounting purposes.

Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

5. Data Sharing and Recipients

We do not sell your data. We only share data with:

-      Service Providers: Hosting providers (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud), payment processors (e.g., Stripe), and email service providers.

-      Other recipients: If required by law or by a court order.

We ensure that any recipients in countries outside the European Union (e.g. Stripe, Base44) comply with requirements set out by GDPR (adequacy decisions or SCCs).

6. Retention Period

Account Data: Stored for the duration of the contract and thereafter for the statutory retention periods (e.g., 7 years for tax records in Austria).

Guest Log Data: Typically deleted or anonymized after 90 days, unless required for security investigations.

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

-      Access: Request a copy of your personal data.

-      Rectification: Correct inaccurate data.

-      Deletion: Request deletion of your data ("Right to be forgotten").

-      Withdrawal: Withdraw consent at any time.

-      Portability: Request that your personal data is transmitted to another controller.

-      Objection: Object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data which is based on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

To exercise these rights, please contact us at contact@kunoguide.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde).

8. Cookies and Tracking

The App uses essential cookies to manage sessions and security. Non-essential tracking or analytics cookies are only used if the Host or Guest has provided explicit consent via our cookie banner.

When the user consents, a persistent anonymous identifier is stored in localStorage (not a cookie) to recognize returning visitors over time. This requires explicit consent and can be withdrawn at any time via the 'Cookie Settings' link in the footer.
